What is the Correct Way to Use Boob Tape?

For cleaning, wash the chest and surrounding skin with fragrance-free soap to remove oil, sweat, and residual skincare products. Dry the skin before proceeding, as any residue will severely affect the tape’s adhesiveness. For those with sensitive skin, it is essential to apply a small piece of tape to the inner elbow 48 hours in advance, observing for allergic reactions such as redness or stinging. Choose tape based on bust type: smaller busts suit 3cm-wide lightweight styles to enhance a gathered look; larger busts are recommended to use 5cm-wide reinforced support styles to prevent sagging. Adjust the length according to height—generally, it should be about 20-25cm from the underbust to below the collarbone. Cut the ends into diagonals in advance to reduce discomfort from sharp edges.

Application steps

First, lean the upper body forward at a 45° angle to let the chest naturally expand outward, making it easier to adjust the shape. Users with smaller busts can cover the nipples with breathable stickers to avoid direct contact with the tape; use one hand to gently push the breast from the outer side toward the center while lifting it upward to the desired position. With the other hand, take the tape, fix one end on the sternum below the breast (keeping at least 3cm away from the nipple), maintain 20% stretching force, and apply it diagonally upward, with the end landing on the lower middle collarbone or the front of the shoulder. For larger busts, the "cross method" is recommended: first apply a piece of tape from the outer side of the breast to the opposite collarbone, then another from the inner side of the breast to the same-side shoulder, with the intersection avoiding the nipple to enhance stability. After application, press the tape gently with the palm for 30 seconds to help it adhere to the skin.

Precautions

Single wearing time is strictly controlled within 6-8 hours; in summer or when sweating heavily, it should be shortened to 4 hours to prevent the tape from loosening due to sweat immersion and reduce prolonged skin compression. When removing, first apply a warm towel to the edge of the tape for 30 seconds, or soak it with a small amount of olive oil. Once the adhesiveness softens, peel it off slowly from the edges toward the center—never pull directly. If the skin turns red after use, relieve it with a cold towel compress; if a rash appears, apply anti-allergic ointment promptly. Additionally, those who are breastfeeding, have chest wounds, eczema, or dermatitis are prohibited from using boob tape to avoid worsening discomfort.
